OT is beneficial for individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, or developmental challenges, including those with disabilities, injuries, or mental health conditions. OT helps people of all ages develop, recover, or maintain daily living skills through therapeutic activities.
The frequency of therapy depends on individual goals and progress. Sessions could occur weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Some clients may need short-term therapy while others require ongoing support.
The first OT session typically involves an evaluation where the therapist will assess the clients abilities, challenges, and goals to create a personalised treatment plan with the client, family and key stakeholders. This may include: observations, assessments and communication with relevant stakeholders.
Please bring any relevant medical or school reports, referral document, and any equipment or tools used currently to assist with daily tasks.
